Happy/Glad/Sad Weekend

Happy Carolyn thought enough of me to give me this award. Thanks my friend. Also very Happy the Chiefs won....that's mine and Carolyn's team....YEA!!!

Glad I went on the women retreat at "Camp Inspiration" Great bunch of gals. Had some wonderful speakers. There is a dinning hall, swimming pool, volley ball court, ball field, craft or reaction building, out door tabernacle and a church. All very country, this is were we also have our church camp in July(which I'm going to go to next year for a week). There is also a grave yard. Some people have put little lights on their family graves. Kind a cool at night and fitting for this time of year. The area is beautiful. Tree s are starting to turn. Have to drive to the top of the hill to get cell phone service. Small town not to far with all we need ...you know like a Wal-Mart Supercenter.... Had fun sleeping in the girls dorm (that I call the bunk house) . Our leader read us a bed time story,so funny it was hard to fall asleep. There are about 20 sets of twin size bunk beds( very comfortable) in this long room. At one end there is a round closes rack and at the other there is a bathroom w/ 4 sinks 4 showers and 4 closed off "thunder closets" (read that in a book one time) or for some who may think I'm a little crazy ...stools, Commodes or toilets. We had ladies from the area, boot hill of Mo, Oklahoma,Arkansas and of course the 9 of us from from Richmond. It was a long drive 4 1/2 hrs ,but we had the time. Speakers, bible study, fellowship, girl talk, relaxing, crafts and lots of eating...........I'm so glad I went.

My sad part came when I came home and learned they had to put my "grand doggy" Sammy to sleep. She was 19 yrs old and you know what that is in dog years. She had a tumor going to her brain (fast acting) and the vet said if she survived the surgery she may only live a couple of months...She was Meemaws girl. She would come stay with Mike and I while the kids went on vacation. She always came down with the kids even before the twins were born. She was family. She good friend and took good care of this family all her life. I'll miss her being here and going for car rides with me. When I would go up to my kids....It was Sammy and I that took the kids to school and brought them home. She always seemed to know what time it was,she would come get me. Sammy Jo and I are the old ladies of the family. The kids had a funeral( may sound silly to some) for her and my son said about 10 or so neighborhood kids ,Moms and Dads attended. She was a friend to all. So Sammy will be missed. Good bye old girl. Meemaw loved you.

Love and God bless.

Awww! I'm sorry Glo & now of course a funeral is not silly. Our pets become family & it's very very hard when you lose one. At least you know she won't be suffering. Again, I'm so very sorry.

Glad to hear you had a great time at the women's retreat!

but I'm so sorry you came back to the sad news that you did :( I'm sorry the family's beloved dog had to be put down. And the funeral doesn't sound silly at all - she was a part of the family and I'm sure it helped the kids w/closure and being able to say their goodbyes.

That woman's retreat sounds like a blast. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

I'm so sorry about the doggy. I'm glad you have such fond memories and the other Michelle is right. At least the kids got to say their goodbyes.

It'a not silly, when Nancy's kitty died in June who was 15 years old we prayed over her and said what she meant to us.
Sounds like your retreat was great!
Love you, Carolyn

never say it is silly to have a funeral for a beloved pet! I think that is what you should do. They are a BIG part of your family for sure!! I am glad that you had a good time at the ladies retreat!! Ours was just a week ago too and was great!! They always are!!
